She said my voice was full of agony

Then she sat right down and threw her arms around me.

We crossed that river after midnight

And it seems like a pretty good start

I never knew a bowl of Spanish rice

Could heal my broken heart

Now she moves just like a gypsy to me

And some nights she’ll sit on down

She’ll ask me how my kingdom is doing

And offers me a crown shot

The best, all the best she says the best is always nice

Sometimes the best gets served with a bowl of Spanish rice on the side maybe tonight

     She makes it from a box

     She serves in a bowl

     There’s never anything more

     She always leaves me full

I get me some sugar sometimes

I wouldn’t mind some spice

You can’t always get the best Dave

But the best is always nice

The night is darkest boy

And the dawn is coming with some price

But she knows I’d sell this tattered soul

For one more bowl of Spanish rice

Maybe tonight
